I love this picture. She actually really loved her baby brother. But it looks like she is having some ambivalent feelings here.
Here he is getting ready for the big day. Actually I think it's just an excuse to take his shirt off. This is a little boy with a big personality. He lives life large. He can be very sweet and I love all the hugs and kisses I get all day long. He also has a bit of an anger management problem and is the master of insults. Unfortunately I find it hilarious. His favorite insult right now is- You, you........GIRL! If he's really mad it's girly, girly, girl, girl, girl. Yeah and he's the one ironing in this picture.
Lydia was just as excited about the birthday as Eli.
SHE WON!
In other news, Bridget won her campaign for ASB (Associated Student Body) officer! Here is the speech Garrett helped her write.
Today I would like to tell you a tale
Of a girl named Bridget who hoped to prevail
by showing her classmates why it is necessary
to choose her to be next year’s ASB secretary
she knew that she had what it takes for the job
she’d never been late and she wasn’t a slob
she was neat and was sharp, and believed in hard work
she was passionate, committed, and rarely a jerk
she was positive, open, and often care-free
and If you’ve not noticed yet, that girl is me
Now I will tell you the ideas that I had
To make the next school year incredibly rad
we should advertise clubs with updates and meetings
Parties with music and people and eating

LA assemblies will give students a voice
And when we’re informed we all can rejoice
Clubs and societies get students involved
If there’s none that you like, make your own, problem solved!
The Big Blue weekend ASB field trip
Help students to realize that teachers are still hip
Sporting events and performance of art
are a great way to give every student a part
I will work hard to make school a great place
To learn or to sleep, whatever the case
I will get up and stand for what I know is right
I will make good decisions, and fight the good fight
I will try hard to rise to my full potential
Because doing your best in this job is essential
I’d like to make my last year here the best
To help others, have fun, and forget all the rest
So if there’s even a doubt in your mind who to pick
Hear these words and vote Bridget right quick!
Everyone said that it was so unique she really stood out from the rest. After the speeches they asked each candidate a trivia question. Not one person knew the answer to their question except for Bridget. She had just asked Samantha who the ASB president was when she was a senior. Bridget's question was,"Who was the ASB president when the seniors were freshmen?" That was the same year. So she won a t shirt. Then they spun the wheel of misfortune and each candidate had to do some crazy/embarrassing thing that it landed on. Well Bridget got "sing the fight song while doing a dance". Hmm, well she pretty much does that everyday as a cheerleader. She said everybody sang and clapped along with her and it was really fun. So everything turned out pretty well for her.

NEW CALLING
Last Friday Todd and I had an appointment with the Stake President. We were kinda walking on air all the way in. We were sure that after 6 years Todd was being released as Bishop. And we were right! Ahh! The relief! What will we do with all the time on our hands and so much less stress? Wait what was that? That's not all? Oh. So in stake conference on Sunday Todd was sustained as a counselor in the stake presidency. The stake pres. wouldn't tell me if I would be speaking until he announced it in stake conf. Part of what I spoke about was Dad and his service in the kingdom. He always gave it his all whether he was in a very visible calling or in an invisible calling. It's not where you serve but how. They had a live feed going out to half the stake that quit about one minute in. It didn't come back on for them until just before I stood up to speak. So they missed all the changes and then were probably wondering what the crazy lady (me) was talking about. On Saturday night we decided we better tell the kids what was happening the next day or they would never be on time the next morning. So I told the kids that after the adult meeting Sat. night we were having a family meeting. Samantha said, "Oh Mom no! You're pregnant?!" I guess we don't have very many family meetings. So anyway this has been a very busy week for Todd as he is trying to fill both callings.
WICKED!
WICKED!
But we are leaving tomorrow because we are going to see WICKED in Portland! Woo HOO! I am very excited. Not the best timing but we will be back late Saturday so we will be here for Sundays changing of the guard.
SADIE HAWKINS
Also on Saturday night was the Sadie Hawkins dance. Bridget asked one of the boys from the basketball team and one of her cheerleader friends asked another boy from the basketball team and they all went together. ( By the way they did make it to state and Bridget and the rest of the cheerleaders got to go to Seattle with them and they stayed for four days and had a blast.) Here they are at our house before the dance. They are pretty cute.
So someone pointed out that it was funny that the boys are hugging too. It does look kinda funny but they were standing so stiff I told them to do a group hug so they did. I think it turned out cute.
UNCLE JERRY
This was a big weekend. Also on Saturday my Uncle Jerry Roskelley Died. He is my dad's brother. They lived in the same ward all their life. They were great brothers and loved each other very much. I spent a lot of time in his home as they had lots of kids my age and we didn't have any my age. He was a big guy with a gruff exterior and a soft middle and a big heart. It's good to know they are back together again.
He was a fire captain and whenever Samantha would hear fire engines and get scared we would assure her it was just Uncle Jerry. One day when we lived next door to Mom and Dad I told her that and then she looked outside and saw him talking to Dad. She yelled at me, 'That's not him he's right there talking to Grandpa!" Oops!
The firefighters paid tribute to him and put their flags all over town at half staff.
Whew! And with that I think we are all caught up.
